Bengaluru Gets Smarter Commute: Namma Transit Unifies Metro, Auto & Cab Rides in One App
Namma Yatri launches Namma Transit in Bengaluru, offering metro, auto, and cab trip planning in one app. Full public rollout expected soon.
Namma Yatri’s new Namma Transit feature aims to simplify Bengaluru commutes by combining metro, cab, and auto rides in a single app interface.

The ride-hailing app Namma Yatri has introduced Namma Transit, a comprehensive trip planner that combines taxi, autorickshaw, and metro services into a single app interface, in a significant effort to streamline Bengaluru commutes.
According to recent traffic data published by Hindustan Times, Bengaluru's average travel time has increased by 16% in the last 12 months, with people now needing more than an hour to travel just 19 km. This much anticipated feature comes as the city's average commute time has increased.
🚆 Describe Namma Transit.
A clever mobility function called Namma Transit is integrated into the Namma Yatri app. Using a variety of transport alternatives, it provides real-time, step-by-step navigation, saving commuters from guesswork and app-hopping.
Namma Transit optimises routes based on real-time traffic patterns, so you can do whatever you need to do, including reserving a taxi for the last leg, riding the metro to MG Road, or picking up an auto from the closest stand.
The feature is currently only available to a select few, but in a week it should be made available to the whole public.
Do You Know How It Works?
Users are guided by the app at every stage of their journey—
- How to choose a metro line and stop
- The exit gate to select
- Where and when to change modes (for example, from auto to metro)
- The estimated duration and total cost of the journey
Multimodal transportation is intended to be simple, effective, and environmentally beneficial.
According to co-founders Magizhan Selvan and Shan MS, "we want mobility to feel like magic." The tool's goal is to make daily commuting less of a headache and more of a seamless experience.
Why It Is Important
This launch supports Bengaluru's efforts to promote sustainable urban mobility. Namma Transit wants to promote more usage of public transit and lessen reliance on private vehicles by addressing the first- and last-mile connection gap.
This integrated technology might revolutionise urban mobility, save commute time, and lower carbon emissions as Bengaluru's traffic problems worsen.
